Robert J. Richter passed away peacefully on April 11, 2024 at the age of 88. He was born on January 10, 1936, married Jeanette Zeboski at age 25, and spent the next 59 years with her building a beautiful life focused on family, fun, and happiness.
After serving in the US Air Force and getting his college education at Southern Illinois University, where he met the love of his life Jeanette, Bob had an amazing 32-year career with Ford Motor Company. A company man through and through, he regularly warned family not to park “foreign” cars (meaning ANYTHING but a FORD) in the driveway. He was devoted to his church and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.
Bob was always “doing” something, and his idea of relaxing was being active. He preferred outdoor adventures - skiing, snowboarding, camping, hiking, kayaking - and did all of these activities into his 80’s. He fulfilled a lifelong dream at age 70 when he obtained his pilot’s license and could take his kids for quick joy rides in the sky. He was constantly working on projects like woodworking when the weather didn’t cooperate for outdoor tasks and his day always started with the creation of a To-Do list that he kept in his shirt pocket.
Bob shared his love of the outdoors, his belief in putting in a hard day’s work, and his commitment to family with his children.
“Every Day Is A Beautiful Day" was his signature greeting shared with everyone he met with his big beautiful smile.
Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jeanette and precious great-grandson Quinn Davis.
Bob is survived by his children Andrea (Larry) Rakowicz, Angela (Craig) England, Steven (Karen) Richter, and Kevin (Lisa) Richter. He is also survived by his siblings Jack (Deane) Richter, David (Phyllis) Richter, Annie Duing, and Dorothy Diekemper.
He is loved and will be missed by his grandchildren: Kristen (Corey) Davis and great-grandson Noah Davis, Lauren (Ethan) Fuller and great-grandsons Wesley and Cameron Fuller, Devin, Matt & Danielle England, Jordan Richter, Collin (Emily) Richter, Kendyl (Christian) Andersen, Addison & Aubrey Richter.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to AccentCare Hospice.
