Richard (“Rich” / “Rick”) passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Joseph and Stella Brach, Rich was born in Detroit, MI, on January 6, 1945.
Rich grew up in Detroit and attended St. Peter & Paul School and Detroit Catholic Central High School. He graduated from Detroit College of Business, while working multiple jobs and raising his family. Rich spent his career in the automotive industry with General Motors, Findlay Industries, and Lear. He grew up playing baseball and hockey and was a lifelong fan of the Tigers and Red Wings. His family was from Cheboygan, MI, where Rich loved to spend time at his cottage, on the boat, water skiing, fishing, hunting, going to the casino, and enjoying the peace and quiet. Mostly though, Rich was exceptionally proud of his family and cherished the moments that he and his late-wife Sharon spent raising and nurturing their children, grandchildren, and nephews and niece.
Rich was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sharon. He was the loving father of Lisa (Marshall) Kleven, Leslie (Jeffrey) Kruger, and Lynne (Christopher) Fugedi. Cherished Papa of Adam (Tara), Lindsey (Dylan), Loren, Kyle, Ryan, and Kaitlyn. Dearest brother of Ken (the late Mary) Brach, and brother-in-law of Robert (Nancy) Gale and Dorene (Jay) Schulte. And a dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd, Livonia, MI, on Sunday, March 20 at 10:30 am, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions appreciated to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
