Pauline Smith of Canton, MI, formerly Garden City, MI, passed away peacefully Tuesday Oct. 22 at Harper Hospital in Detroit after a valiant fight against cancer. She was born in Yorkshire, NY, June 2, 1946, one of 4 children of Lee and Luella (Wyss) Moyers. Because of her Dad’s military commitments she did extensive traveling as a youth which included living in Paris, France. Her family settled in Empire, MI, in 1958. She graduated from Maple City Glen Lake High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation she married Russell Wedemeier and raised her 3 children. She then entered the workforce. She enjoyed 20 years of marriage with her husband Richard Jr. Together they eventually became principles of Hughes Electronics in Livonia, MI where she enjoyed working with the employees. She enjoyed traveling, many cruises and vacationing at their cottage in Canadian Lakes, MI. Pauline was a huge sports fan. She especially enjoyed rooting for the University of Michigan, Detroit Tigers and loved the Green Bay Packers. Pauline enjoyed bowling, golfing and was extremely proficient at Jeopardy. She loved spending time with her family, especially her two grandchildren. Pauline is survived and will be sorely missed by her husband Richard Jr., her sister Tina Moyers, her children: Russell Wedemeier, Wendy (Thomas) O’Brien and Robert (Crystal) Wedemeier, Grandchildren: Ryan and Kyla Wedemeier; former husband Russell Wedemeier; sister in law Linda Moyers, and several nieces and nephews. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers David and James Moyers.
