I am deeply saddened to learn of Mrs. Mikkelsen's passing. Some of my earliest memories include the Mikkelsens. What a wonderful family to have as friends.  Every visit was great fun. I was fortunate enough to stay in touch with Mrs. Mikkelsen through college. One visit home I stopped by and she had made my favorite cookies for me. Amazing that she remembered and extraordinary that she took the time. But that is what she was; amazing and extraordinary and so much more. I was happy that I was able to stay connected as an adult. In fact, Mrs. Mikkelsen watched my son when my daughter was born. I consider being included on the Mikkelsen annual Christmas card list to be a great honor and I look forward to the card each year. 
My heartfelt condolences to the entire family.  You came to my mom's visitation and that meant the world to me. I sincerely wish I could have been there for you. The entire Mikkelsen family will forever remain in my heart.

My deepest condolences to all the Mikkelsens. I regret that I am not there to share your grief.  The Mikkelsens and the Dosmanns became neighbors and friends in 1956.  Two old friends are together again.

Through the years of interacting with them at many church functions, Pat and Bill were tremendous role models, always kind, patient, thoughtful and giving to others. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Bill and their entire family as Pat is laid to rest today. How fitting that the church is so beautifully decorated for her funeral Mass. We are certain she will experience the joy of the Lord's presence forever.

I don't know if this will ever feel real, each time I remember that you're no longer suffering and are with your first born, it brings me peace but all of our memories come flooding back at once. From our many trips to Greenfield Village and taking us to Movies at the Henry Ford Theater, your endless card games and French toast breakfasts. You were the one who introduced me to tea and would always make it just how I liked it, still to this day the only sausage I'll eat is the one you'd make us everyday for breakfast. I will forever miss your kind voice and constant love for all those around you. I'll always hold on to the feeling of holding your hand as you fell asleep and were able to be calm even through all the pain. I'll cherish the memories and moments spent together forever. Hoping that you will watch over grandpa and keep him safe.

Sometimes words can never do  justice to the loss one suffers.  Prayers  are with you all.  May God's peace be with you during this journey.

Mom you will forever hold a special place in my heart.  You have been a fantastic, loving and supportive grandmother to my 3  kids. My kids reaction to your sickness and death showed me how truly special you were to them.  In my 51 years of life you taught me how to be a compassionate and loving human being. In the 33 days we spent together in the hospital you showed me even as sick as you were you showed kindness to everyone who took care of you. You listened to them and asked about their lives.  You remembered what they said and asked about their kids and how they were doing. The sweet woman you were amazed the staff and the care they showed you was proof of that. You amazed me and taught the life lesson to always be kind to one another. My 3 kids are going into medicine and I told them to appreciate the kind patients but always have compassion for the crabby ones. They just may be alone and just want someone to care .   I'll never be able to forget the last days we spent together. We had mostly sad days but we also shared some laughter. I'm sorry that we never got you out of the hospital but I pray you are resting peacefully in heaven.  I love you to the moon and back❤

12-29-2016  Grandma was my first true love-my first best friend-she looked like an angel to me.  To this day I still get this feeling of pure joy when I drive down the street and pull into the driveway.  And even at 39 years I still want to burst through the door and yell: grandma! I'm home!  Though I could spend hours listening to the two of you talk-my favorite part of the visits lately had become when I kissed her goodbye and would keep my face close to hers for those few precious moments and I would breathe her in and she would look at me and I could see the love in her eyes and she would say:  I love you honey come again.  And so Grandpa-I will come again-I will come again for you-on Sundays (completely un- announced of course).  And I will bring cookies and all things sweet and I will look forward to that.  I will hang the bells on my door every Christmas and every time I hear them jingle I will know that grandma is with me at Christmas and always.  And I will continue to pray for grandma and for all of us just like she asked me to the last time she looked into my eyes.  I will love grandma forever and will miss her every single day.
