Mary Katherine (Bednark) Krajewski was born in Redford, Michigan on February 1, 1944. She attended St. Agatha grade school and high school graduating as valedictorian. She graduated from the University of Detroit in 1966 and began teaching third grade at Keeler Elementary in Redford, Michigan. Later, she married Peter Krajewski in 1968 with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.
After the birth of her first child, she decided to stay home full time with her children. She was active in the St. Colette Catholic Church community and Taylor Elementary School. Unfortunately she developed progressive multiple sclerosis which would rob her of her ability to walk, use her hands, and eventually to eat. Mary quietly endured this burden for twenty-three years with the help of neighbors, family, and her loving caregiver/husband, Peter. She missed being able to do the many things grandmothers do with their grandchildren. She peacefully passed away in her sleep in her home on July 30, 2018.
Mary was the devoted wife of Peter Krajewski. Loving mother of Dr. Paul (Karen) Krajewski, Ann (Jeremy) Andrews, and Dr. Katherine (Lyle) Buckingham. Cherished grandmother of Nate, Darah, Madeleine, Charlotte, and Gabe. Loving sister of Ray (Sue) Bednark, the late Greg Bednark, Jim (the late Terri) Bednark, Steve (Marcia) Bednark, and Chris (Pat) Bednark and sister-in-law of Gerald (the late Cecelia) Krajewski and Mary (Mike) Barry. She will be remembered as an all around sweet, great lady.
Visitation will be Friday, August 3, 2018 from 2-9pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, Livonia. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 10am (9:30 instate) at St. Colette Catholic Church, Livonia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163, or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, 1820 Mount Elliott Street, Detroit, MI 48207.
