Mary Frances Kasparek was born on August 26, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan to her parents, Tom and Mary Horak. Mary Frances passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, at the age of 92. She was the beloved wife of Frank Kasparek for 72 wonderful, happy years. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Kasparek and her son-in-law Michael Sapelak. Mary Frances was the loving mother of Frank Kasparek (Cheryl), Cathy Sapelak (Mark DePotter), Edward Kasparek, Mary Pat Pernak (Lawrence) and David Kasparek (Toni Sapyak).
Mary Frances is the cherished grandmother of Kenneth, (Marie), Leyna, (Matthew Hirsch), Karyn, (Ryan Wilson), Kristin, (David Gardener), Megan, Justin, Drake, Christopher, Emma, and Alex. She is the cherished great-grandmother of Caelus, Harper, Reese, and Dylan.
She is remembered as the dearest sister of Gerald Horak, Barbara Seybert and the late James Horak. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and numerous lifelong friends.
Mary Frances and her parents moved to a farm in Elsie, Michigan when she was very young. She loved living on a farm and caring for all the animals. She enjoyed sharing her adventures of her life on the farm with everyone! After getting married, she and Frank spent most of their life in the city of Livonia.
Mary Frances loved spending time with her family and especially all her grandchildren. She was a devout Roman Catholic attending church every Sunday until the last year of her life. She loved to cook and bake; often trying new recipes. She enjoyed sewing – making many of her own clothes, clothes for her children and over 20 hand embroidered quilts. She was a huge football fan, specifically cheering on the University of Michigan and the Detroit Lions.
She retired from Sears Roebuck after 15+ years as a Saleswoman in the Plumbing and Heating Department.
Most importantly, Mary Frances was an incredible wife and one of the best mothers (and yes, even mother-in-laws) that anyone would be more than thankful to have in their life. She was incredibly supportive and the most unselfish person; ALWAYS thinking of others. She taught her children to be kind and never use the word “hate.” She will be deeply missed by all.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at Trinity Health Hospital in Howell, Michigan for their wonderful care of Mary Frances during her final days. Everyone showed her so much compassion and dignity.
