Judith Ann Stewart, 81, of Livonia, July 28, 2020. Judy was born on September 8, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA to Emery H. and Frieda (Willis) Barnes, the first of their three daughters. After completing high school in Pittsburgh she completed her Bachelor of Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Later, she earned her Masters Degree in Education at Eastern Michigan University. Judy met Bill at Geneva on the Lake, a resort area in Ohio. After courting, they married on June 17, 1961 in Pittsburgh. They raised their two daughters in Livonia, Michigan. Judy started her elementary teaching career in Baldwin, PA; and later taught in Berea, Ohio; and Livonia, Michigan. After Judy retired from teaching she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and at Greenmead Historical Village in Livonia. Along with her husband, Judy was a member of the Dearborn Power Squadron (a non-profit organization established in 1914 to promote safe boating on our waterways).
Judy is survived by her loving husband, William. Dear mother of Ann (Jay Akers) Stewart-Akers and Kate Stewart. Precious grandmother of Kyle Akers. Also survived by her sister, Margaret (Charles) Skalos. In addition to her parents, Judy was pre-deceased by her sister Gloria Shorr.
The visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2020 from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at 3:00 p.m.
