There are so many treasured memories I have of the years your Mother and I spent together at Schoolcraft College.  We had many laughs and there were also some tears that we shared.

   You have the light of life in your heart and the Lord Jesus' love that shined through to Cathy and myself, Noah,Sammy, Melvin, Barb, Mike, Preston, Matt, Meridith and many other family & friends.
   It's been a joy and blessing sharing family time. I remember: Your loving smile and you always asked, "How are you doing?" Your years of service to Schoolcraft College, Exec. Secretary President's Office, the Board Mtgs., Culinary Arts Dinner/Dances(mighty good!).
   Our enjoyable Thanksgivings, Christmas, & yes, our 'original' Bob Evans Breakfast. Your thoughtful gifts @ Christmas time were joyfully unique: Univ. Mich. wristwatches, mini handheld tv!, pen radio, model cars & more.
   Our Sundays @ Grace Lutheran Church w/ Pastors' Victor and son Timothy Halboth presiding and Pastor Victor's wife Blanche, Church Secretary.  Then on to Ram's Horn or Big Boy's breakfast to talk of recent activities.
   Helping you answer questions re: $, retirement, insurance, home/car maint., telemarketers. e.g. Home furnace man says you need a new furnace firepot, we sent him packing. 
   Good Samaritan Village, Fl. The many friends & group activities: Sunday Church, dominoes, bible study, theatre plays, travel trips i.e.to Panama Canal on Cruise Ship.  You made a directory of residents' names & birthdays, a hit. You collected newspapers/mail for others and checked on friends' not feeling well or a friend's spouse who had just passed, to encourage them.  You helped raise funds to build a gazebo.
   You kept your eyes toward's the Lord Jesus and your everlasting heavenly home. I will see you again, until then, YOU ARE ALWAYS IN MY HEART.

Barb & Cathy:
I worked with your mother at Schoolcraft College many years ago. I remember those days when we all shared routine responsibilities, we all shared morning breaks together,we all gathered for lunches in the Lois Waterman center together and we all shared the beginning and ending of a academic year in the courtyard. Joyce planned many of those activities and she loved every minute of her position in the President's Office with Clara Rousseau and Cheri Holman. I was close by in the administration building and privy to seeing and knowing a very special person. 
You both grew up at Schoolcraft just as my two daughters did in those years.
My condolences to you and your families.

Cathy, Barb and Families: I want you to know how much Sylvia and I loved and will miss Joyce.
Growing up I remember her as the big sister driving out to Silver Lake for a visit. She had a real cool Chevy convertable to sport around in. She gave me a lot of encouragement and support to attend college and get a good education. I forever appreciate that willingness to help keep me focused and pursue my degree. I knew I could always call and get an honest answer as well as the right kind of response to the question of the moment. Love and moral support were always included.
She was a fantastic sister and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

There's so much I need to thank you for. You raised two incredible daughters, one of whom I was lucky enough to marry.  I can't help but smile every time I think about the pure joy on your face whenever you got to play Wii bowling.  Hearing your stories about Michigan and all the friends you made in Florida let me know that you had really enjoyed your life. You have always been a blessing in my life.   I can't praise God enough for giving me the gift of a Christian mother and friend.  You were my role model of how to conduct myself in the business-world and taught me how to prepare for eternal life with the Lord.  I have sweet memories of a wonderful childhood and will always cherish the years you spent with us in Florida.  Who knew that you and I would both come to love cats??!!  Larry, Noah, Sammy I look forward to us all being together again some day and see your warm, compassionate smile radiating  a mother's love.

This message is to Barb and Cathy.  Your mother was one of my mentors when I came to Schoolcraft in 1974.  I worked side-by-side with her for many years. I am assuming you will recognize the name.  Each year after she left the College, I still received a Christmas card from her. Clara Rousseau, your mother, and I were quite a team.  Those were the good ole' days.  I am still at Schoolcraft College 38.5 years later. Your mother was kind and generous woman. I learned a lot from your mother. I know how much you both meant to her and was glad to hear when she left Michigan headed your way.  God bless you and your families and know that she now resides in the House of God.

Mom:  There will be two dates on your tombstone and everyone will read them..but the only thing that matters is the little dash between them.  Your 83 years on earth was a blessing to all who knew you!
