In 1952 John was a member of the United States Army, where he serve during the Korean War. Shorty after being discharged from the Army John married the love of his life, Stella on July 23, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan. He went on to work as a Building Equipment Mechanic with Bell Telephone Company for over 40 years. A devote Catholic, John was a member of the Dr. Tom A. Dooley Knights of Columbus Council and was also a proud member of the Maltese American Community Club.
John was the loving husband of Stella. Cherished father of Edward (Rita), the late Robert (Margaret), Michael (Sandra), Mary Ellen (Donald) Provenzola and Joseph (Karen). Beloved grandfather of 21 and great-grandfather of 7. He is also survived by his dear sister Emily Borg. John was preceded in death by his siblings Josephine, Mary, Theresa and Joseph.
John's family will receive friends on Thursday February 27, 2014 from 5-8 pm and on Friday February 28, 2014 from 4-8 pm with a Knights of Columbus Rosary Service at 7 pm on Friday at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd. (north of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia.
He will lie in state on Saturday March 1, 2014 from 9:30 am until the time of his Funeral Mass, 10 am at St. Colette Catholic Church, 17600 Newburgh Rd. (north of Six Mile Rd) in Livonia.
John will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield, Michigan.
