Jane was born on April 3, 1932 in Youngstown, Ohio, as the fifth of seven children. She grew up on a farm before attending Juniata College in Pennsylvania, where she majored in Home Economics. Upon receiving her bachelor's degree, she taught at a high school for one year before starting her family. After her children had grown up, she earned her insurance license and became the supervisor of corporate licensing for the State of Ohio.
Jane was passionate about giving back to her community. She was a member of First Community Church in Columbus, Ohio, where she volunteered at their clothing re-sale shop. She was also an active participant of the Columbus Chapter of Home Economists in Homemaking and the Riverside Methodist Hospital Sewing Guild.
Throughout her life, Jane enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, and gardening. In her later years, she especially enjoyed knitting dishcloths.
In 2012, Jane relocated from Ohio to Northville, Michigan to live closer to her daughter. She joined the First United Methodist Church of Northville and partook in Sharing Hearts, Quilters, and the Senior Lunch Bunch. She made numerous friends at her home at Allen Terrace Apartments.
Some of her most important relationships were those she maintained with her siblings. Her cherished memories included being part of the Garver Family reunions and vacations with her siblings. Eventually, it became a tradition for Jane and her brothers to travel to Myrtle Beach and Orlando every year. Most of all, Jane loved spending time with her children Wayne, Carol, and their families. She will be remembered as being a deeply loving person with a beautiful smile.
