James Angus Murdoch II was born in Detroit Michigan to his late parents James and Jessie on January 20, 1942. James peacefully passed away on October 1, 2020 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Katherine Murdoch for 51 wonderful years. Proud father of his one and only daughter, Becky Murdoch. Dearest brother of Frances, Martha, the late Jeffrey (Connie), and the late Jesse (Lorraine). Beloved brother-in-law of Christine and Craig Lincoln and nephew of Virginia Borts and Mary Jane Hewitt. He will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
James enlisted in the United States Navy on April 3, 1964 and served in active duty until April 1, 1966. After returning from the Navy, he went on to work in retail management and sales at Montgomery Ward where he met the love of his life, Kathy. They married after a year of dating and Becky came along five years later. James comes from a very musical family and has been singing since he was young, starting with his dad's choir at First Presbyterian in Trenton and most recently, Highland Park Baptist Church. Along with singing, in his free time he enjoyed woodworking and watching old movies. Family was always important and he loved regularly hosting family gatherings with extended family. He lived a simple life but he left behind a legacy that will be remembered forever.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday October 7, 2020 from 9:00am until time of funeral service at 1:00pm at Harry J Will Funeral Home in Livonia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Highland Park Baptist Church Mission Fund by clicking the link below.
