Gilbert Burford passed peacefully at home in Redford on the morning of July 10th at 98 years of age. Gil was the first in his family to attend college and played hockey for the University of Michigan. He had a successful career at the Ford Motor Company, beginning in trade school and culminating in 42 years of service. Gil loved Mary, his wife of 65 years who preceded him in death in 2020. He loved to play golf and never lost his enthusiasm for the U of M, often ending conversations with a hearty Go Blue! In his last days, he was so fortunate to be supported by wonderful caretakers, caring hospice nurses, and surrounded by his loving family.
Gil is survived by his children, Fred (Cheryl), Debby (Mike) Mazzoni, Chris (Amy), Gil (Ardith), Bill (Katherine), and Beth (Eric) Tech. He was further blessed and survived by 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Donations in his memory may be made to two of his favorite charities: Smile Train and Gleaners Food Bank.
