She is survived by her children Monica Lee Morse of Washington DC, Matthew David Morse PhD of Ann Arbor Michigan, Amy Louise (Ray) Casey of Brooklyn, Michigan and Abbey Marie Morse of Asheville, NC. Five grandchildren; Daniel Casey (20), Kaitlyn Casey (12), Lucille Casey (9), Kyria (17) Ngankoy and Adam Ngankoy (14) and her sister Maryann Peters 3 nephews and 2 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Ann Sipko and her sister Margaret.
She was a graduate of St. Martin De Porres Detroit 1966, earned her BA in Theology at Marygrove College 1970, she held a MA from Sacred Heart Major Seminary, and an MA from SS Cyril and Methodius Seminary. She worked at various parishes throughout the archdiocese for 37 years including Holy Family Novi, St Mary’s Monroe, St Edith Livonia; she was a founding member of Resurrection Parish Canton. At Resurrection she served as its First Director of Faith Formation, as a volunteer she was a Master Catechist, a member of the Detroit Society of Catechetical Leaders and was a member of the Women's Ordination Conference. Dorothy loved to do vegetable gardening and her tomatoes took a blue ribbon at the Michigan State Fair. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. She lived in France for 3 months and Switzerland for 3 months but the highlight was her trip to the Holy Land. She loved to volunteer at St. Leo’s Soup Kitchen.
Visitation, Sunday May 7, 2023 from 2PM-8PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home-Livonia. Funeral mass, Monday May 8, 2023 at 11AM (in state 10:30AM) at Our Lady of Victory: 133 Orchard Dr, Northville, MI 48167. The memorial luncheon will immediately follow mass in the church hall, all are welcome.
Dorothy often said her life was like a rollercoaster; it had its ups and downs but she would not have missed the ride for anything.
