Dennis "Jim" Smith

Dennis Alan James Smith was born in London on November 3, 1922 to the late Ernest and Rose Smith. Jim came to the US in 1968 to work as a Tool and Die Maker at the GM Livonia Spring and Bumper Plant. A Livonia resident since 1968, he died on Feb. 21 at the age of 91.

He was the loving husband of the late Mary J, who preceded him in death in 1988. Dear father of the late Raymond, who preceded him in death in 1975 and Peter (Linda). Cherished grandpa of Raymond and Shannon (Phil) Bessen. Preceded in death by fiancée Gwen Bashur.

The Smith family will receive friends on Sunday February 23, 2014 from 4-8 pm with a Scripture Service 7 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd. (east of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia.

He will lie in state on Monday February 24, 2014 from 9:30 am until the time of his Funeral Mass 10 am at St. Priscilla Catholic Church, 19120 Purlingbrook (just north of Seven Mile Rd.) in Livonia.

Dennis will be laid to rest next to Mary at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield.
