I had the pleasure of working with Dave at Keller Elementary. Dave had a larger than life personality that made the kids light up when they were around him. I truly enjoyed our conversations about family, sports, and life in general. He was so proud of his own kids and their accomplishments. He always made it a point to check in with me and my family which I truly appreciated. He was genuine, kind, and caring. Thanks for being you Dave. You will be missed. 

As you can probably already see from the website, Dave wins for friendliest neighbor on the block. :) He was always checking in and saying hello, even if I hadn't been home in months or years. He was also always gushing about Jared and Juliet's achievements and lives. I loved hearing about how proud and happy he was for them. He will be missed. Sending hugs to the family. <3

Deepest sympathies to Judy, Jared and Juliet.  Was a long time neighbor of Dave’s.  My daughter and Jared were the same age so we were always outside with the kids, hanging out talking.  Dave was always playing catch with Jared,  And who could forget Dave’s laugh.  Loud and boisterous.  Part of the fabric of Dundee that made our part of the Woods so special.  Halloweens were pretty special too… us adults hanging out on each other’s porches with our adult beverages.  Tons of trick or treaters.  And Dave was always there in the thick of it.

RIP Dave….  You’ll be so missed.

My deepest sympathies to Judy, Jared, and Juliet.  David was my best friend for 50 years and he has left us way too soon.  He was the brother that I did not have, and we shared our dreams and ambitions, our successes and failures, our joys and our sorrows, with many laughs and a few tears.  David was outgoing, genuine, enthusiastic, good-hearted, intelligent, and passionate.  I will greatly miss his robust laugh and our long, passionate discussions about anything and everything.

And though David’s death is way too soon, I cannot help but be reminded of the quote from the Rolling Stone journalist Hunter Thompson.  And if I may paraphrase Mr. Thompson and use a sport’s analogy that I think David would approve: “Life should not be a journey like a baseball game where you are the runner on third with the bases full and are walked safely into home without breaking a sweat in a clean uniform.  Life should be rounding third-base hard and then sliding broadside into the catcher at home plate in a cloud of dirt, ripping your uniform, bleeding from your cuts and scrapes, scoring the winning run, and then proclaiming, ‘wow, what a game!’”.  

I will always revere our friendship and David will always be in my heart and always missed.  I am thinking of you during this difficult time and will always be here for you.


He made a huge difference in the lives of Royal Oak students and the staff that he worked with.
