David Speirs was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 10, 1940 to George and Florence Speirs. He passed away peacefully in his Livonia, Michigan home on February 24, 2022 at the age of 82. David was under the gentle care of Angela Hospice.
David was the beloved husband of Shirley. Loving dad of Mark (Sue) Speirs, Douglas (Christine) Speirs, and Scott (Michelle) Speirs. He will also be missed by his grandchildren, Jessica (Travis) Erwin and Ashley Speirs, Manny Zamora, Blake Speirs, and Shayla Speirs, Amanda Speirs and Patrick Speirs and six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
David was a very proud United States Army Veteran who served in Korea. He was also a longtime member of The American Legion Post 32 in Livonia, Michigan. David retired from Ford Motor Company after a happy and successful career for 32 years in Program Timing. He was an avid golfer and played in a number of leagues over the years. He enjoyed his military shows and could be found watching MASH, Gomer Pyle and other military movies.
David was also a faithful man of God. He was a longtime member of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Livonia, Michigan and taught his children to pray. However, his passion was his family. He loved being a husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. He will be deeply missed by everyone who was blessed to know him.
David’s family will receive friends for a visitation on Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Harry J. Will funeral Home 37000 Six Mile, Livonia, Michigan 48152. The visitation will continue on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
David’s life will be celebrated with an 11:00am service on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church 14175 Farmington Rd., Livonia, Michigan 48154. Visiting and final viewing will begin at the church at 10:00am. David will be laid to rest in Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Livonia, Michigan.
Memorial Contributions may be made in David’s honor to Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church, Angela Hospice or to the American Legion Post 32.
