Clark Stuart Peterson, 55, of Redford, Michigan, passed on to be with his Lord on January 20, 2022 after battling cancer. He is the son of the late Kent S. and Bonnie (Schuhardt) Peterson, and Carla (VanWaterschoot) Peterson. Clark was a graduate of Winston Churchill High School in Livonia, Michigan, and Henry Ford Community College.
Immediately after high school, Clark served six years in the United States Army as a vehicle mechanic before attending and graduating from the U.S. Army Airborne School, as well as the elite U.S. Army Ranger School. Following his military service, he was employed by Boeing Aerospace in Seattle, Washington. After suffering a severe back injury, he returned to Michigan to be near his family.
Clark was a voracious reader, with a passion for history and the United States Constitution. He lived by the belief that if you do not know something, then you need to pick up a book and read until you find the answer. His library was extensive, and he often shared his collection with others.
Clark’s other true passion was cars: specifically Detroit muscle cars; Chevrolets and Buicks in particular. From repairing cars early on, restoring a classic, to completely rebuilding them to race: spending time with his closest friends in his best friend’s garage were his happiest times.
Clark is survived by his mother, Carla Peterson, older brother Jeff (Kristin) Peterson, three sisters, Paula (Eric) Baird, Julie (Thomas) McCall, Erica (Joseph) DiPonio, brother, Brian Peterson, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering for Clark will be held Friday, February 11, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Home, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. A memorial celebration of life will occur Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Harry J Will Funeral Homes.
