Cassandra E. Husby "Cassie"

Cassie was born on December 27th, 1982 to the Reverend Edward and Janis Zell. She was baptized on January 9, 1983. Cassie was raised in Ann Arbor, MI (Go Blue!) and was graduated from Huron Valley Lutheran High School in 2001 and Washtenaw Community College in 2005. She married her high school sweetheart, Jeremy, in 2006 and, fulfilling her own childhood dream, she gave birth to their sweet daughter, Laila, in 2009.

Throughout her life, Cassie worked to help others, whether officially in her various occupations, or in her personal life. She tirelessly made efforts to bring awareness to the life sustaining work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and wanted as many people as possible to sign up for organ donation. But, above all, she loved spending time with her family and, with them, praising our Lord and thanking him for all of his great gifts to her.

On November 18th, 2013, Cassie received the gift of a double lung transplant and was so thankful for the 3 extra years that she was able to spend with her family and loved ones.

She is survived by her beloved husband and daughter, Reverend Jeremy and Laila, her parents, Reverend Edward and Janis Zell, her sister, Angie, a maternal grandmother, Lillian Doddie, parents in law, Mike and Barb Husby, brothers in law, Ben (Leigh) Husby, Tom Husby, Nick (Theresa) Husby, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many dear friends and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, her maternal grandfather, and her Uncle Chips.

Funeral Services will take place at both Peace Lutheran Church in Hartford, WI (1001 Center Street) on Wednesday, January 11th and Darlington Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor, MI on Sunday, January 15th.

The family will greet loved ones at Harry J. Will Funeral Home (37000 W. Six Mile Rd., Livonia) from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Saturday, January 14th and from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 15th at Darlington Lutheran Church (3545 Packard Rd., Ann Arbor) with funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm.

A family only internment will take place on Monday, January 16th at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park in Livonia, MI.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Huron Valley Lutheran High School in Westland, MI, or to the donor’s home church are appreciated.
