Billy was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Sylvia Anita, his son, William Edward Land, his step-daughter, Anne Mosele (Norman), his parents, Ed & Ruby Land and his brother Jack Land (Judy).
Billy is survived by his loving wife Marilyn, daughter Melinda Land and son, Jerry Land (Michelle). Also survived by his grandchildren Jason, Bill and Jordan Land and his great grandchildren Brendan, Danyel, Madeline and Gerry.
Also survived by step-children David Dellar (Jeannie), Dan Dellar (Jane) and Ellen Jensen (Richard).
Billy is survived by his brothers and sisters Bob Land (Betty), Jim Land (Elizabeth), Tom Land (Jean), Patsy Rittenberry (Sam), Linda Tignor (late Alvin) and Leon Land (Jane). Billy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Billy was born November 12, 1931 in Leoma, Tennessee. Billy decided to serve his country and join the Armed Forces of the United States National Guard of Tennessee. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class in November, 1950. He later joined the United States Army where he served in the Korean War and would be honorably discharged in June 1954 as a Corporal.
Billy and Anita met in Michigan, eloped to Indiana in 1955 after dating for six months. They settled in Melvindale where they purchased their first Sears model home sight unseen and raised their family while Billy worked at, and retired from, Great Lakes Steel as an electrician after 42 years. Billy became widowed in 2001 and would later marry Marilyn in 2003 enjoying many years together.
A visitation for Billy will be held Monday, February 6, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Homes, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Harry J Will Funeral Homes.
