As a young man Ben committed his life to the Lord, was converted and baptized, and became a member of the Apostolic Christian Church.
His priority in life was to God, his family and work, and in that order.
In 1938 he began employment at Barton Malow Company as a laborer. He began leadership roles shortly and credited that to the support of his co- workers and their willingness to teach him. He became President in 1960, Chairman in 1976 and Chairman Emeritus in 2002. His tenure at Barton Malow spanned 68 years. He frequently quoted Psalm 127, “Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it.”
He served on numerous Board of Directors; including American Red Cross, Rural Gospel Medical Missions of India, and Lawrence Technological University.
He gave precedence to the work of the Lord serving as a minister for 50 years & elder of the Apostolic Christian Church for 26 years.
He traveled to Japan, India and Eastern Europe to support churches, missions, orphanages and schools, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a man of faith, wisdom, vision and love. God gave him opportunity and grace to touch many lives.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and compassionate father to the fatherless. His family, relatives and many friends will cherish his legacy of love for the Lord, family and others, and miss him dearly.
