Barbara is survived by her husband, John H. Morgan; son Christian Morgan; daughter Elizabeth Morgan; son John Morgan III; and grandchild Ashley Morgan. She is also survived by niece Nicki McFadden and nephew Brett Poindexter.
Barbara was preceded in death by; father Ward Poindexter and mother Goldie Poindexter; brother Charles Poindexter, a member of MENSA, who challenged her to qualify to become a member. She qualified but did not become a member.
Barbara was a Teacher of the gifted students in the middle school. She taught the subjects of English and Social Studies. She was the primary Teacher of the Quest Program i.e. Conflict Resolution and Life Skills. At Wayne State University she completed all of the academics toward a PhD in Gifted Education, however was unable to complete the Orals and Dissertation. The culmination of her career was to lead a committee before the State of Michigan Board of Education which accepted the use of the Quest Program in all schools in the state.
She was a member of Lions Clubs International Association for 38 years, presently with the Northville Lions Club. Her primary experience was in instructing Leadership Training and serving as a District and State Officer of LCI. She was the first woman to receive the highest award given by the Lions of Michigan for her career the S A Dodge Award.
A memorial gathering for Barbara will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Homes, 37000 W. Six Mile Road, Livonia, Michigan 48152 with a memorial service at 2:00 PM.
