So sad to just be hearing about Mr. Hardie's passing now. I had him as my gym teacher for K-5, and he was the best! Kids would swing by the gym to say hi on their way to the bathroom or drinking fountain. He always had a word of encouragement and pushed me to get out of my comfort zone. Mr. Hardie truly was a great teacher, mentor, and friend. I will miss him tremendously. 

Rest In Heaven

I adored Mr. Hardie. He was always upbeat and kind. He was one of those teachers you never forget. He helped me achieve the Presidential Physical Fitness award in 6th grade and I had a weak arm.😉 I’m sure he’s coaching up there in Heaven because that’s what he was made for. So glad to have had the impression of such a fine man in my grade school years. Hugs to you Mr. Hardie!🙏🏻🦋🙏🏻🦋🙏🏻

Mr Hardie was all of our favorite Gym teacher. I was at Rogers in the ‘70’s and to this day I am Kathy instead of Kathleen because I didn’t want to correct him. He never made me climb the rope and let me do extra dancing in gymnastics. He was a kind beautiful man, and I will remember him fondly.

I have the best memories of my time in Mr. Hardy's gym classes at Will Rogers, and I hope he knew the positive influence he was on so many of us.

Dear Eleanor,

I really missed Al at our recent reunion.  Every time we got together Al would pull me aside and ask how I was doing personally.  He really cared!  We were fraternity brothers, but I always felt that we were real brothers at heart.  He often shared his love of teaching, and I know he positively impacted the lives of many young people.  

I'll miss his great smile and laugh which made us all smile along with him.  Please know that we all share your grief with his loss.  Much love to you!

Mr Hardie came to Will Rogers when I was in the 4th Grade. He was the best teahcer I ever had and the most influencal person in my life outside of my family. I will always be thankful for haveing him as a teacher. 

You were a great man and as one of your former students you influenced my life, and likely the lives of hundreds of others, in ways you never probably intended. You were a role model and consistently went beyond what was required of you as a teacher. Thank you for for all you did. You left an imprint that will last well beyond your time in this world. Eli...my heart was broken when I read the loss of Al.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.  
  There are so many wonderful memories of you two together.   A true "Love" story.    Thinking of you today.

My brother, Mark and sister Barb and I all had Mr. Hardy as our gym teacher at Will Rogers Elementary back in the 60s - 70s. Every year he was by far the most beloved teacher to all.  He had a way of making every one feel special. He was the teacher that had the most impact on my life. He will be missed!

I attended Jefferson Elementary from 92'-97'. Mr. Hardie was such a great gym teacher and all around great guy.  Sending all my love, and love on behalf of all the Jefferson Jets he impacted.

When I went to Jefferson Elementary school  back in 87 to 92 or 93. Mr. Hardie was the greatest gym teacher he was so compassionate about his job. He always made sure us kids had fun and kept in shape. He always let me play floor hockey with the boys.  We truly got lucky he picked our school to teach at. May he rest in peace. Sending hugs and prayers to his family. 

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Hardie. He was my physical education teacher at Will Rogers Elementary School and then for my daughter and son at Jefferson Elementary. He was always a loving and caring teacher and man. He never forgot a name, even after not seeing you for a few years. We should all aspire to be just like him! He will be greatly missed! RIP Mr. Hardie!

I will miss your sweet face and all the fun we had over the years at our Florida home in Gold Tree.  I will miss the joke at the end of every telephone conversation we ever had.  My thoughts are with you Ellie and with your family at this very sad time.  Annie

 We wish to extend our condolences to all of you on the passing of Al.  One never knows when one's candle is going out.  Life is short and he was a wonderful man.  60 years of marriage is quite a long time and full of fond memories.

While the number of Delta Chi Brothers is dwindling, those of us left are relishing the time we had together.  I always loved Al's wry sense of humor and his ready smile.  Al was a special guy and  we will all miss him.  Always remember that you are one of us and we urge you to stay in touch.  Take care as you are well loved, too.
