Alessio Iafrate of Canton, Michigan was born February 22, 1954 and passed away on October 6, 2021. Loving son of Olga and the late Michele Iafrate. Beloved husband of Margaret for 37 wonderful years. Cherished father of Dawn (Dave) Smith and Cassandra (Rob) Van-Amburg. Dear grandfather of Audrey Cooke, Kasual Waters, Talia Waters, Myles Cooke, Sydney Smith and Dantae Van-Amburg. Dearest brother of Gianni (Susan) Iafrate.
Alessio was born in Italy and came to the United States when he was 14. He made a life for himself here. He worked hard and saved his money and made a great life for his family. He worked as auto body repair man for 22 years and after that he worked with his brother Gianni when they took over their father’s cement company. He could paint, draw, and fix anything. He loved his classic cars. He was stoic, pragmatic, stubborn and particular. He had a warmth about him, along with a certain coolness in his stride. He had a tender hearted and gentle soul. He loved his family and they loved him. Alessio was a courageous man, a warrior who lost his battle with multiple myeloma.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 12, 2021 from 4-8pm with a 7pm rosary and sharing of memories. Alessio will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Lutheran Memorial Park Cemetery.
