Al Tabaka

Al Tabaka passed away on January 28, 2020 in Troy, Michigan. Beloved husband of the late Shirley. Father to Karen, Linda (George) and Tom (Karin). Grandfather to Mark (Amber), Shirley (Thomas), Mary (Andrew), Paul (Courtney), Michael, Jacqueline and Andrew and seven great-grandchildren. Closest friend to Betty. He is survived by his sisters Jane and Virginia and many nephews and nieces. Al is preceded in death by his siblings Mary, Walter, Joseph and Aloysious.

Al was born and grew up in Detroit. He was first in his family to graduate from college. He went on to receive his juris doctorate and then his masters in labor law. Over his long professional career, he held positions in purchasing and as hospital administrator. His passion for law led him to eventually open up his own legal practice. He practiced law until his health forced him to retire.

Al enjoyed a good game of golf and cruises through the Bahamas. He loved baseball and bananas. He took great pleasure in spending time with family and would travel cross town or state to see his grandchildren.

Al loved to tell stories and interact with people whether it was friends and family or someone he had just met. He was great with numbers. He had an amazing recall for names and would remember a person's name after one meeting.
