An affable, loving man, Al's goal in life was to make those around him comfortable. As an executive with National Bank of Detroit, where he worked for many years, he was a valued leader and coworker. Throughout his life Al enjoyed traveling whether it be weekend road trips with his family or exotic island getaways he loved seeing new places and exploring with this family. In his down time he loved to read, often while enjoying a glass of Dewar's.
Al stayed busy following his retirement. He was active at his church and served on the board of directors for Lutheran Special Education Ministries, formerly Lutheran School for the Deaf, the American Heart Association and Blue Care Network. He also volunteered abroad as an executive volunteer at International Executive Service Corps. Above all else Al loved and cherished his time with his family.
Al was the cherished husband of Esther for 62 years. Loving father of Lynn (Dr. Cheryl Huckins) Helland, Kathy (Vaughn) Marderosian, Jan (George) Greulich, Leila (Pat) Leupold, Audrey (Marty) Moro and Gail (Paul) Horalek. Proud grandfather of 18 and great-grandfather of 11. Dear brother of Sonja Trierweiler.
Al's family will receive friends for visitation on Tuesday October 20, 2015 from 4-8 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 37000 Six Mile Rd. (east of Newburgh and I-275) in Livonia.
