Dr. Walter J. Pedowitz

Dr. Walter J. Pedowitz, age 78 passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. Walter was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He lived in Florida during his time with the United States Air Force, and then has lived in Short Hills, NJ for the past 44 years.

Walter attended and played lacrosse for Lafayette College, and then attended SUNY Downstate Medical School. He completed his training in Orthopedic Surgery at Columbia University. Dr. Pedowitz was a founding member of the Union County Orthopedic Group, a board member for the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, was a member of the New Jersey Foot Club, and pioneered medical coding for the American Medical Association. He was also a longtime and dedicated member of Temple B'nai Jeshurun in Short Hills.

Walter was the beloved husband of Diane for 54 years, loving father of David (Morria), Aaron (Jana), and Adam (Angela), devoted grandfather of Nathan, Avi, Dina, Elijah, Levi, and Clara, and the cherished brother of Arnold, Richard, and Robin.

A funeral service for Walter will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, New Jersey 07039. Following the funeral service will be a burial at Temple B'nai Jeshurun Cemetery, 1347 Lower Road, Hillside, New Jersey 07208.
