Virginia, or Ginny as she is known to her loved ones and friends, passed from this life surrounded by the love of her husband and children, truly fitting for a woman who gave so much love to others.
Left to mourn Ginny is her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert, and their six children, Debra (Philip) Bruno, Mark (Calogera) Becker, Dawn (Gene) Tedeschi, Dianne (David) Kaeli, Donna (Kenneth) Taylor and Virginia (Michael) Sullivan.
Ginny also leaves behind her 16 precious grandchildren, Carrie (Jeff) Francis, Philip (Amy) Bruno, Richard (Jodi) Bruno, Robert (Elena) Bruno, Erica Aumais, Kindra (Josh) Redd, Nichole (Josh) Reed, Andrew Becker, Caitlin (Dalyn) Becker, Melissa Kaeli, Michele Tedeschi, Jessica Taylor, Emma Kaeli, Samantha Sullivan, Jack Sullivan and Daniel Sullivan along with her cherished 9 great-grandchildren. Ginny had a special relationship with each and every one of her children and grandchildren and they adored her in return. Special treats were always on hand at Grandma’s house! She had a small decorative box that she would check after all the kids left and delight in finding the used candy wrappers hidden inside. Ginny was predeceased by her parents David and Adelaide Gibbs, her brother, Donald, and her grandson Gabriel Savard.
Ginny married the love of her life in 1954 and they moved to Brooks Airforce Base in San Antonio, TX where they started their family. They soon returned to the Bronx and, five children later, moved to Livingston in 1964 and built a house into a warm and loving home for their family to come back to anytime.
After their sixth child was born, Ginny returned to school and graduated with her nursing degree. She worked at Morristown Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1994.
In her retirement Ginny stayed very active and joined the Morristown Woman’s Club where she volunteered many hours to help the community. She was an avid reader always expanding her knowledge. She continued to pursue her love of travel and, when not relaxing on a tropical beach, she was exploring new countries with her best friend and husband. Most recently they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a cruise up the Danube River.
Ginny, a woman of great faith and a devoted parishioner of St. Philomena Church, loved her family completely and totally. She left as she lived, with incredible grace, beauty, and amazing strength with the love of her family at her side.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28 from 4-8PM at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston. Funeral mass will be offered on Friday, April 29 at 10AM at St. Philomena’s Church, Livingston, with entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
