Van Davis Williams Jr. the son of Van Davis Williams and Vera Alston Williams, was born on July 12, 1963, in Newark, New Jersey. He peacefully entered eternal rest on August 22, 2024, at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, New Jersey.
Van embraced his faith at an early age and later deepened his relationship with Jehovah. He lived in Newark for several years with his family and graduated from Vailsburg High School in 1981. He then earned an Engineering degree from the New Jersey Institute
of Technology.
Early in his career, Van worked at Howmet Aerospace, a global leader in engineered metal products for aerospace, defense, and commercial transportation. Later, he worked for New Jersey Transit as a fare inspector.
Driven by the desire to provide a better life for his family, Van, along with his parents, fulfilled their dream of purchasing a home in West Orange, New Jersey—a goal that had always been part of Van’s master plan.
In 2005, Van married the love of his life, Valerie Monique Burns. The couple was blessed with two beautiful children: their son Van III and daughter Vanna. As a dedicated and compassionate family man, Van cared deeply for his mother with Valerie’s unwavering support until her passing. He also welcomed his mother-in-law into their home, where she lived with them until
her passing.
Van cherished creating beautiful memories with his family by taking them to destinations like Florida, the Bahamas, Aruba, and the Dominican Republic.
He was known for his passion for collecting unique items. For many years, he found joy in visiting the Englishtown Flea Market on early Saturday mornings.
Also, he enjoyed hunting for collectibles such as watches, pens, action figures, bicycles, HOS race cars, trains, animated figurines and convertibles.
A true engineer at heart, Van believed in saving money with a “Do It Yourself” attitude—long before “DIY” became popular. Whether fixing cars or bicycles, you could often find him in the driveway with tools in hand.
Van leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 19 years, Valerie and their two children, his son Van III and daughter Vanna.
