Ron was born in East Orange, N.J. and lived in Hillside before enjoying a longtime residency in Livingston which began in 1956.
A WWII Navy Veteran, Ron went on to obtain his B.S. in Accounting from Seton Hall University. He was blessed with an inquisitive mind and combined opportunities in finance and management during his career which included professional associations with Puder & Puder (now Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Ltd.), Muir's Department Stores and Homa Co.
Ron (Pop-Pop, Uncle Ronnie) cherished his family and friends, as well as, time spent down the shore in Seaside Park. He also pursued many interests and usually could be found with a toolbox in one hand and a golf club in the other…when not rooting for the Yankees and Giants. Ron's departure leaves a great void previously filled so beautifully for so many years by his kind, gentle manner and sense of humor.
Ron is predeceased by his parents, Wilhelmina (Klaile) Schaefer Meyers and William C. Schaefer.
Ron is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia (Roake), his sister Lois Baird, sister-in-laws, Viola Lupo and Rosemarie Alvarez, brother-in-law, Edward Roake, children, Kathleen (Richard Carlin) and Ronald Jr. (Marisa), grandchildren, Nicholas (Nicole), Douglas and Christopher, family friend Alene Goines, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, June 2 from 3 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, June 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mount Pleasant Ave., Livingston, NJ. The funeral will be held at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 3 at 2 p.m. Internment shall be privately held at a later date.
