Visitation will be held at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30th, from 4 to 8pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass on Friday morning, October 31st, at 10am at St. Raphael’s R. C. Church in Livingston, NJ. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
Bob was born in New York City in 1921. He married the love of his life, Kathleen ‘Kay” Hand, a British war bride from St. John’s Newfoundland, on February 4th, 1944. They raised their family in Bergenfield and Pine Brook, before moving to West Orange.
Bob was very proud to be a World War II combat veteran in the Army Infantry in Europe and received the “American Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star” and the “American Service Medal European African Middle Eastern Service Medal”. He was also given the “New Jersey Distinguished Service Medal”. He was a life member of VFW 376.
Upon retirement from the Ford Motor Company, Bob volunteered at Saint Barnabas Medical Center for over 20 years.
Bob was predeceased by his wife, Kay, and his son, Bobby, and is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Brand of West Orange, NJ and Karyn Schweiker-Marra of Kill Devil Hills, NC. Also five grandchildren: Shawn, Davin, Sabrina, Mai and Allie. He is also survived by his goddaughter, Linda Davey of NYC.
