It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Zachary Olesky, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on November 17, 2024, at the age of 89, surrounded by his devoted family. Bob lived a life filled with love, kindness, and a commitment to excellence, leaving a lasting legacy for all who knew him.
Born on April 25, 1935, Bob's life was characterized by his fierce love for his family, his passion for golf, wry sense of humor, strong will and perseverance. He worked for over 40 years at Standard Nipple Works, a pipe manufacturing company in Garwood, NJ, where he served as president for over 35 years. A leader in his industry, Bob also served as President of the industry's trade association in the 1970s. Under his guidance, the family business thrived, expanding internationally and epitomizing his values of integrity, hard work, and the pursuit of the American dream.
Bob was a devoted husband to Evelyn, his wife of 65 years, and a source of unwavering strength and support to his family. He is survived by his children, Lee Olesky and Dara (Olesky) Rudorfer, his daughter-in-law, Amy Olesky (née Rosenkrantz), and his son-in-law, Henry Rudorfer. Bob was a loving and proud grandfather to Samantha, Alec, Joey, Spencer, and Gabriel, who brought immense pride and joy to his life. He was also a proud younger brother to Sydney Olesky.
Bob was passionate about golf and found great joy and camaraderie on the course. He cherished the outdoors and the friendships formed through shared activities (especially his love of sports and the NY Giants). Even in his final days at The Delaney assisted living facility, Bob's warmth and humor endeared him to all members of the community.
Bob’s absence creates an irreplaceable void, but his legacy of love, dedication, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral service will be held at Bernheim Apter Funeral Chapel in Livingston on Tuesday November 19th at 2:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request donations to be made to the UJA Federation.
Robert Zachary Olesky’s life was an extraordinary example of kindness, resilience, and generosity. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered. May his memory be a blessing.
