Robert (Bobby) A. Blum of Roseland, New Jersey died on July 19, 2015 at home. He was 82. Born and raised in South Orange, he attended Marshall Elementary School and Columbia High School. A member of Pi Lambda Phi fraternity, Bobby graduated Lehigh University in 1955. He then served as a Lieutenant in the United States Air Force stationed in Gifu, Japan and was promoted to the rank of Captain.
Formerly the President of Federal Automatic Company of Hillside and Chairman of Pantmaker 807 in the Dominican Republic, Bobby was President of NACLEO - Natl. Assoc. of Coin Laundry Equipment Operations, and a member of the Builders Assoc. of Metropolitan NJ. He holds two U.S. patents for inventions.
Known affectionately as "Blummer," Bobby held season tickets to the New York Giants for over sixty years since the days of the old Polo Grounds.
An avid golfer who scored seven holes-in-one over his lifetime, Bobby was a legacy member of Mountain Ridge Country Club since 1961. He was recently honored with and greatly touched by the creation of the MRCC Blummer Spirit Award.
Bobby Blum was a quick witted and renowned story teller with total recall. He possessed old school charm, an infectious laugh, and the ability to make anyone he met feel like an old friend.
Bobby was the son of Irving and Sara Abeles Blum, and is survived by his beloved wife of 25 years, Bunny, two sons Michael and Steven (Elise) Blum, step-daughters Laura (David) Ross and Gail (Herman) Kurz, five step-grandchildren, and cousins, Peter (Brooke) and Paul (Robyn) Abeles and Judy (Paul) May.
A memorial service will be held at B'nai Jeshrun in Short Hills at 2:00PM Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
