Richard Kenneth McArthur

Richard (Dick) Kenneth McArthur, age 78, of Livingston, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday September 28, 2022. A Funeral Service will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit 36 Gould Street Verona, NJ, on Monday October 3, 2022 at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park East Hanover, NJ. The family will receive their friends at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue Livingston, NJ, on Sunday October 2, 2022 from 2-6 PM. Dick was born on June 22, 1944 in Chicago, IL. His parents were Marion McArthur Gulick and Howard McArthur. He was raised in Des Plaines, IL and graduated from Des Plaines High School. Dick attended National College of Education in Evanston, Illinois where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. While at college he met the love of his life Ginger and they were married on July 22, 1967. Dick and Ginger moved to Livingston, NJ in 1970 where they raised their family. Dick taught 5th grade in Scotch Plains, NJ prior to starting his own company called Natech selling clean room equipment. In later years he returned to teaching as a full time substitute at Livingston High School. Dick was fortunate enough to be working in the high school when his 3 grandchildren were there. Soon all of the students were calling him “Pa” in the hallways of LHS as his grandchildren did, and Dick loved it. Dick is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Ginger Holgate McArthur, his dear son Jason McArthur, devoted daughter Melanie and her husband Kevin Kenney and his loving grandchildren Erin, Owen and Ryan Kenney.
