Born in Castelforte, Italy to Joseph and Lucia Coviello, Philip settled in Newark in 1935 at the age of 10. He would remain there before moving to Livingston in 1958.
He was an Army veteran of WWII and member of 101st Airborne Division 506th Regiment E Company. He was also a member of the VFW Post 2856 and the Senior Citizens Club, both in Livingston.
Philip worked for the US Postal Service in Newark for 38 years before retiring.
He enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing cards with his friends and family and continued to play up until last year.
Philip was the beloved husband of the late Marie (nee Vecchio), loving father of Lucille Duetsch and her husband Thomas, Jean Hennessy and her husband Gerald, and Phillip J. Coviello and his wife Katherine, dear brother of Anne Vellucci and Jean Coviello, and cherished grandfather of 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The visitation will be held at the LaMonica Memorial Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. in Livingston, on Monday, March 9, 2020, from 4-8 pm.
Services will commence at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 10, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Philomena’s Church in Livingston. The Interment will be at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.
