Miriam Geller Beloved family matriarch Miriam Geller, 96, died peacefully at her home in Rockland Place Assisted Living on Nov. 22, 2016. She was born Jan. 18, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Rose and Louis Kaplan. Services are at 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at Bernheim Apter Kreitzman, Livingston, N.J. Shiva will be observed at the Club Room at Town Center, 1 North Livingston Ave., Livingston, N.J. 07039.
Miriam was predeceased by her loving husband of 67 years, Louis L. Geller, in 2008. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Martin and Edward Kaplan. Left to treasure her memory are her loving daughters, Janice Skoloff (Dr. Joseph Skoloff) of Reston, Va., and Harriet (Hershey) Schloss (Lew Schloss) of Wilmington, Del. She is also remembered by her five grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. Miriam was loved and cherished by many others and was highly regarded as a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great- grandmother, and friend. Miriam and Louis raised their family in New Jersey.
She was an active member of Hadassah and Congregation Beth El in South Orange, N.J., where she served on many committees. Miriam and Louis volunteered at the Daughters of Israel Home in West Orange, N.J., for many years where they received distinctive honors for their dedication. The family would like to thank Home Instead Senior Care for providing wonderful people dedicated to her care and also the staff at Rockland Place and Seasons Hospice, all treating her with love and dignity.
