Marcia P. Ross

Marcia Abby Phillipson Ross of Bridgeport, CT, passed away on August 8, 2023 at age 93, following a 10 year battle with advancing dementia.

Mrs. Ross was born on August 21, 1929, in Newark, NJ, the daughter of the late Harry and Anna Zimetbaum Phillipson. She graduated from Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ in 1947, and earned a BA degree in English education in 1952. Mrs. Ross married Bernard Karl Ross of Peabody, Mass on February 23, 1952, moving to Fanwood in 1955 to raise their children. They remained married for 39 years, until his death on June 18, 1991. Mrs. Ross also spent over 20 years as a beloved substitute teacher, in various Union County, NJ high schools.

Survivors include 2 sons Robert of Erie, PA, and Richard (Beth) of Weston, CT. Also 4 grandchildren Kevin, David (Naomi), Alexandra and Anastasia, and 1 great-grandson Jude. Mrs. Ross is further survived by her brother Dr. Paul (Patricia)Phillipson, a niece, a nephew, and several first and second cousins.

A graveside service for Marcia will be held Sunday, August 13, 2023 from 1:00 PM at Mount Hebron Cemetery, 130-04 Horace Expy, Queens, NY 11367.
