Lola was born and raised on a 500 acre farm in Los Pinos, NM. She was the youngest of 12 children to the late Gregorio Duran and Felicia nee (Atencio). While attending a dance at the Air Force Academy, Lola met her husband, Angelo Tursi, of 67 years. They lived briefly in Newark, NJ before settling in Belleville, NJ, where they raised their 4 children for the majority of their lives. During late retirement, Lola and Angelo moved to East Hanover to be closer to and enjoy their time with their 4 children, 8 grandchildren and respective family members.
Lola was not only a full-time mom to 4 children but also worked in the banking industry. She retired from Valley National Bank as a Manager with 25+ years’ experience in the industry.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Toniann, sister-in-law Dolores and the 11 (Duran) siblings; Helen, Rosina, Lenore, Gregorio, Donela, Romalo, Leona, Sophia, Sally, Damian and Emily.
She is survived by her beloved husband Angelo, loving children Frank, Ramona and husband Ronald, Liza and son in law Michael Sr.; her cherished grandchildren, Racquel and husband Joseph, Rick and wife Julia, Ronald Jr, Johnangelo and fiancé Amanda, Lorenzo, Cayci, Michael Jr., and Marc and fiancé Deanna; and adored great grandchildren Vienna and Frankie. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Livia, Mary, half siblings Michael, Lorraine and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Lola’s life will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at 11:30 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, East Hanover, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Lola’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
