
Linda Glassmith of West Orange, passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Friday, April 15th, 2022. Linda was born in New York City to the late Hyman and Sarah (nee Fine) Kalmanson and was raised in the Bronx, NY.
She graduated Morris HS and received a degree in Nursing from Fordham University and a BA from Montclair State. Linda and her late husband raised their family in Livingston. She was a Nurse Cadet in WWII, a pediatric nurse and had a career as a school nurse for over 35 years at Bee Meadows School in East Hanover.
Linda was a founding member of Temple Emanuel in Livingston and a life member of both National Council of Jewish Women and Hadassah. She volunteered as a reader for The Electronic Information and Education Service of NJ, known as EIES, pronounced eyes which allows the visually impaired to have access to in depth news. Linda was also very involved with the Newark Museum in preparing teaching exhibits that were sent out to local schools. Linda always had a thirst for knowledge. Her passions were traveling, reading, visiting museums, attending Broadway shows, concerts and lectures. She had an upbeat personality and always saw the best in others.
Linda was predeceased by her husband Irving Glassmith, in 1991, as well as her three cherished siblings, Irving, Ralph and Esta. Surviving are her devoted children Wendy Rader (Jeff) of Dresher, PA, Scott Glassmith (Rachelle Wassel) of Pittsburgh, PA and Jill Glassmith (Joel Teenyanoff) of E. Thetford, VT. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren Daniel, Adam, Lila and Isabelle.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, April 20th, at 11:00 AM at Bernheim, Apter, Kreitzman Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston. Interment will be at Beth El Cemetery, Paramus.
