I came across your book Soviet Policy Towards Jews & Israel, and wondered how you  were doing.  On occasion I thought of your class. Class of '91. I will forever be grateful in my learning on the love of human beings. R.I.P.

My sincere condolences to the Eckman family. 
Professor Eckman was an exceptional man, I  truly enjoyed his Holocaust class at Touro College every Sunday. I learned  so much and I will forever be grateful for his teachings. May Professor Eckman R.I.P.

Our hour upon hour spent together as undergraduates at Boston University began Lester's life long impact on my life, and subsequently upon my children and grandchildren.  He loved his family, he loved his past,  but lived very much in the here and now.  He was always conscious of the future, buidling and building, always within a sophisticated perspective of personal and Jewish  history,  Remembered with love, from "My Friend Henry", words he spoke so often.

I am very saddened learning  that Lester has passed away.  We were good friends in high school and  I especially  admired him for his intelligence and upstanding character.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the passion Professor Eckman. A gentleman's gentleman and a scholar's scholar!

I had the privilege of knowing him and caring for him for decades. Never was there a more appreciative patient! Never have I met a professor/ teacher/ mentor/ family member who was more committed to those under his wing. Summer, fall, winter and spring. Allergies or not. Weather or not. Illness or not. He needed to be there for those who  benefited from his being there.
Shiduchim were a sacred mission of his; he was proud of every one. He was proud of each of his family members. He was proud of each milestone.
I was privileged to have known Professor Eckman. I was privileged to have been trusted by him for these many years.
May his Memory be Blessed and may you know no more sorrows.
