Born in Eschelbronn, Germany, Kurt emigrated to the United States in 1928, settling in West Orange until he moved to Livingston 8 years ago.
Kurt served in the U.S. Army for five years. He worked at Ballentine Brewery and Pabst Brewery, and was also an accomplished upholsterer.
Kurt was a member of the Deutscher Club of Clark and Calvary Lutheran Church in Verona.
Kurt was predeceased b his wife of 57 years, Liselotte and his daughter Marlene. He is survived by his children Helga Collis (Richard) of Livingston, NJ, and Kurt K. (Fran) of Medina, Ohio, his grandchildren Hilary Wilson, Gretchen Tarantini, Ryan and Amanda Collis, Adam and Eric Schoen, and his great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Oliver Wilson, and his brother-in-law Horst Gloede.
