Born and raised in Newark, Judi lived in South Orange before moving to Maplewood in 1979.
She graduated from East Orange Catholic and attended Seton Hall University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
After college, Judi started out as an elementary school teacher. Changing career paths, she worked as a realtor for various agencies over a span of 35 years, most recently with Village Square Realtors in Montclair.
When not working, Judi was an avid gardener and loved to shop, travel, and throw parties. She enjoyed summers in Wildwood Crest, attending Broadway shows, watching the Yankees, and playing Mahjong with friends. Her true love was her family and spending time with them and friends.
She was the beloved wife of James Durkin and the late William J. Langheld, loving mother of Kristen Dana Krebs and her husband Luke, and Jennifer Anne Byrne and her husband Aidan, dear sister of Jackie Mickelburgh and her late husband Robert, and Vincent J. DeRienzo and his wife Angela, cherished grandmother of Avery, Devin, and Reagan Krebs, Kyle, Kyra, and Dylan Byrne, and Michael Arias, caring godmother to Kenneth Brooks and Danielle Volpe. She also leaves behind many loving in-laws, nieces, and nephews from the DeRienzo, Durkin and Langheld families as well as many long-time friends.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, from 4-8 pm at the LaMonica Memorial Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave. in Livingston. The funeral will commence at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at 9am with a Mass of Christian Burial being offered at 10 am in St. Philomena’s Church, 386 S. Livingston Ave. in Livingston. The interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, one of Judi’s favorite charities.
