Gloria Weiss (Posner), 92, formerly of West Orange, NJ (currently residing in Branford, CT) died unexpectedly on November 27, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She is the loving mother of Peppie R. Perrelli (Weiss) of Branford, CT, the late Stuart B. Weiss and wife of the late Morris M. Weiss. She is the devoted grandmother of Marissa (Duncan) Perrelli Brown and Anna R. Perrelli, and great grandmother of Isabelle Rae Brown. She was born to Samuel and Rae Posner (Grossberg) in Brooklyn New York on November 18, 1926. Her family meant everything to her; they were her world and greatest joy.
Gloria graduated from Brooklyn College with a bachelors in science and received her masters in education from Columbia University. Gloria retired after dedicating nearly 40 years to teaching elementary school, high school science and being a reading specialist. She spent the majority of her teaching career at Rockaway Meadow School in Parsippany, NJ. Gloria loved her job and her second grade ‘kids’ as she called them and the feeling was mutual. She was an avid mahjong player and during her last two years while living in Branford, CT she enjoyed playing, and often winning bingo. Gloria enjoyed spending her time with her many many dogs and family. Gloria was passionate about supporting causes near and dear to her heart, mainly nature and animal conservation.
