She was dearly loved by all who knew her, truly admired for her intellect, great sense of humor, tenacity and class. Her love and devotion to her family was paramount and unrivaled. Family was everything to Gloria.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Thomas McElroy and her loving parents, John and Antoinette Krnetich, sister Stella (husband James) Dillon, sister-in-law Helen (husband Chris) Hansen and our special angel in Heaven, her granddaughter Erica Schmitt. She is survived by children, Laura (husband Kurt) Schmitt, Nancy (husband Bill) Neis and Thomas (wife Jolin) McElroy.
Gloria was a loving grandmother to three wonderful grandchildren, Christine Mazza (husband Dan), Robert Marino (Stephanie) and Tommy McElroy and two beautiful great grandchildren, Adriana Marie Marino and Ella Marie Mazza.
She was also a special step grandmother to Stephanie, Bill and Sierra and step great grandmother to sweet Ava, Alyssa, Jacob and Akos.
The family will receive guests at a Celebration of Life gathering at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., Livingston NJ, on Friday, Oct. 16, 2020 from 4 pm to 8 pm. Due to the corona virus, visitors must wear masks and practice social distancing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philomena Church 386 S. Livingston Avenue Livingston, NJ on Saturday at 9:45 am. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ.
Flowers are welcome at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home for the Celebration of Life Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may also be made in her name to St. Jude’s Hospital or the Breast Cancer Awareness organization.
Gloria had a special respect for the work being done for children by St. Jude Hospital. She was also a two time breast cancer survivor and supportive of the work being done to raise awareness and cure cancer.
