He was born in Calabritto, Avellino, Italy, to the late Canio and Idea (Parisi) Raimato, and in 1966 settled in Newark before moving to Livingston in 1982.
Giovanni worked in building maintenance for the Livingston Board of Education 10 years before retiring in 2010. Formerly, he worked in maintenance for Kushner & Schectman and Jersey Mortgage, in purchasing for Columbus Hospital, and as a welder for D’Altrui Industries.
He was a member of the Maria SS Della Neve Society at St. Lucy's Church, Newark.
In addition to his parents, Giovanni was also predeceased by his brothers Angelo Raimato, Ideale Raimato, and Giusto Raimato, and sisters Lucia Raimo and Rosa Parisi.
He was the beloved husband of Angela (Marcantuono) Raimato, loving father of Mary Lou DePaola and husband Nunzio and Antonio Raimato and wife April, cherished grandfather of Gianna, Mario (MJ), Massimo, and Giovanni, dear brother of Concetta Buonsanto, and brother in law of Pasquale and Dina Marcantuono.
Visitation is on Sunday, February 21, 2021, from 2-6 pm at the LaMonica Memorial Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue in Livingston.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, February 22, 2021, at 9:30 am in St. Lucy’s Church in Newark followed by the Entombment in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, capacity limitations will be strictly adhered to and visitors are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing whenever possible.
