Franklin T. Leck passed away on October 18, 2023. He was born on March 14, 1942 to Frank and Mary (Harvey) Leck. He was raised in Livingston, graduated Livingston High School in 1960. He enlisted in the Army National Guard and honorably served at Fort Dix, NJ and Fort Knox, KY. He attended Lincoln Technical School.
Franklin, lovingly known by the guys as "Sid", joined the Livingston Fire Department when he was 17 and has been an active member, until his passing, serving 64 years. The second longest active member of the department. He served on Rescue Company 1 as Warden, Lieutenant, and Captain. He also served as Deputy Chief of the Northfield Firehouse from 1997-1999. In 2019, he was honored for 60 years of service. This past spring he was awarded the Presidential Service Award for Volunteerism.
Franklin worked for the Township of Livingston, on the Water Department, for over 20 years. He was a licensed plumber, since 1967, and owned his own business, working until this past summer. He was also a committee member of Boy Scout Troop 12 for many years, while his three sons went through scouting.
He leaves behind his beloved wife and childhood sweetheart, Linda (Parratt) of 59 years, but together for 10 years prior. He raised 4 children, Kenneth (Cherie), Donald (Christine), Rodger (Denise) and Melinda. He has 8 grandchildren and one great grandson. He is survived by his brother Bob (Joyce), his brother in law, Lee Parratt and many nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as numerous great friends.
Donations in his name can be made to the Livingston Fire Department, Livingston First Aid Squad, Livingston Presbyterian Church, Shriner's Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or the Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter.
