July 2, 1934 – March 12, 2022
On Saturday, March 12, 2022 as the sun began its descent over the water, Frances A. Del Spina was called by the Lord into His eternal care. She died at her Palm Beach, Florida home surrounded by the love of her daughter, Donna (Del Spina) Orr and her high school sweetheart and husband of 67 years, Anthony Del Spina. She leaves behind two other devoted daughters, Karen (Del Spina) Carbonello of Mendham, New Jersey and Lynda (Del Spina) Nutt of Grand Cayman, and two sons-in-law, Gary and Ron respectively. She is survived by her best friend and cherished sister Jeanne Ridinger, beloved and admired older brother Thomas De Rosa, and “baby brother Rick”, Richard De Rosa, who made her beam with pride. Her Sisters-in-law Nora De Rosa and Donna De Rosa also held special places in her heart. Frances was blessed with eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her much-loved brother, Jack De Rosa.
She led a full life, always praising God, whom she said was “her one and only true boss” and, therefore, served as a eucharistic minister at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church. She was a dedicated member of their Legion of Mary, joining them in daily mass and praying the rosary.
Her greatest earthly accomplishment was co-spearheading the development of Lake Cumberland Resort in Burnside, Kentucky with her husband, where she enjoyed the breathtaking views of the mountains that she referred to as “Heaven on Earth”.
“Franny” as she was known to many, was a no-frills woman who led with her warm smile, kindness and generous heart and frequently made friends out of mere acquaintances. They were counted among her many gifts. The last gifts she received were the high-quality professional services provided by the Trustbridge Hospice staff. To pay it forward she asked that donations be sent in her name to them in lieu of flowers at 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407.
Services are being held in New Jersey where she was born and raised in the town of Orange. Visitation is from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, March 21 at noon at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, 28 Livingston Avenue, Roseland, NJ, followed by services at her place of rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery and Mausoleum, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ.
The family would like to collect fondest memories of Fran so please feel free to send them to her husband at [email protected].
