Florence was born on September 30, 1938, in Floral Park, NY, to Tolle and Edna Houston. Her early years were spent primarily in Belleview, NJ, and West Orange, NJ, graduating from West Orange High School in 1956. Following high school, Florence pursued a nursing degree and earned her diploma from Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing (class of 1959). She worked locally in a doctor’s office, followed by Ciba Pharmaceuticals. In 1973, Florence married Joseph D Ginty Jr, her husband of 47 years, moved to Chatham, NJ, and began devoting her time to starting a family and lovingly raising their two sons. In 1992, the family moved to Kingwood, TX, where Florence and Joseph resided until her death.
In her spare time, Florence enjoyed painting, gardening, reading, and watching old movies. She was a true animal lover, and Florence will always be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness toward others.
Florence is survived by her husband Joseph, sons JD and Kevin, daughter-in-law Juleen Ginty, grandson Caleb Ginty, sister Barbara Loveless, and many nieces and nephews.
Florence will be buried in a private ceremony (due to the pandemic) at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover, NJ. A celebration of her life will be planned at a later date when it is safe for everyone to come together again.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to either the Houston SPCA or the Salvation Army.
