It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Estelle Gill, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones last Friday. Estelle was 81 years old.
Raised in Bayonne, NJ, Estelle's life was a testament to love, resilience, and community. In the 1970s, she began raising her family in Bayonne and later settled in Livingston, NJ, in the early 1980s. She called Livingston home until 2004, when she embraced retirement and moved to Jackson, NJ, becoming an integral part of the Westlake retirement community.
At Westlake, Estelle’s vibrant personality shined brightly. She and her longtime companion, Mike Nelson, cultivated a rich social life, forming countless friendships through the Italian American Club of Westlake. As the club’s social director for many years, Estelle was known for her warmth, organization, and passion for bringing people together.
Estelle had a long and successful career with AT&T (later Lucent), where she served as a beloved manager. Her kindness and leadership touched the lives of many colleagues, who remember her as a cherished mentor and friend.
She is survived by her two sons, Jaime Basilico and Joe Gill, and their families. James and his wife, Tracey Basilico, of Lewes, DE, have a son, Anthony Basilico. Joe and his wife, Maddie Formato Gill, of Livingston, NJ, have three children: Sadie, Andie, and Casey. Estelle’s family was her greatest joy, and her love and devotion will remain in their hearts forever.
Estelle will be remembered for her lively spirit, her dedication to her family and friends, and her ability to make every gathering special. Her legacy will live on in the countless lives she touched.
