
Emil Neibart, MD, 86, of South Orange, N.J. passed away on May 11, 2013. He is survived by his devoted sons, Dr. Steven (Kathleen), Dr. Richard (Denise) and David (Gayle) Neibart; his beloved grandchildren, Sarah, Shane, Esther, Elias, Gabriella, Samantha, Lily, Matthew and Jessica Neibart; and his loving companion, Tamara Casriel. He was predeceased by his wife Sheila, brother Irving and parents Sarah and Morris.
Born in Jaslo, Poland, he came to the United States in 1939, returning to Europe with the United States Army in World War II. He later completed his studies at the University of Wisconsin and entered Cornell Medical College in New York City. After residencies at Kings County, Bellevue and Roosevelt Hospitals, he opened a private practice on Grove Street in Irvington, later moving to South Orange Avenue, South Orange, N.J.
A Fellow of the American College of Physicians, he was a specialist in Internal Medicine and non-invasive cardiology and was an attending physician at a number of hospitals, most notably, St. Barnabas Medical Center for over 30 years.
Services will be on Monday, May 13 at 11:30AM at the Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, 68 Old Short Hills Road, Livingston, N.J. Burial will follow services at King Solomon Cemetery in Clifton, N.J. Donations can be made to the Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation, Neptune, N.J., Congregation Oheb Shalom, South Orange, N.J., or the United Federation of Greater MetroWest.
Shiva will be held at the family residence, 41 Glenview Road in South Orange, NJ on Monday afternoon and evening (with a Shiva minyan at 7:30pm). The family will also be sitting Shiva on Tuesday, May 14 from 1:00 – 4:00pm prior to the Shavuot holiday.
