Ellen F. Deutsch died after a 16 year long battle with metastatic breast cancer on March 12, 2018. She was born on December 26, 1947, to the late Morris and Jean Helfman in Brooklyn, NY. She lived in Brooklyn until her marriage to David N. Deutsch in July 1970, when she moved to Chatham, and subsequently Livingston, NJ.
Ellen was a science, home economics, and health teacher, and last served as the Supervisor of Science for the Jersey City Public School District prior to her retirement.
Ellen loved to travel and go on cruises with her husband David and was an avid collector of elephants from all over the world.
The most important thing to her was her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, David; her sons and their wives: Robert and Noreen, Howard and Lex, and Evan and Tunie; her six grandchildren: Jeannie, Addie, David, Hudson, Jordan, and Harper, who all were her pride and joy. She is also survived by her sister Ricki and her husband Larry, and her nieces and nephews and their families.
